PTP 850E Millimeter Wave Radio
PTP 850E Millimeter Wave Radio
With the substantial growth in bandwidth demand from every industry across different locations – from government agencies and schools to even retail business settings – reliable and secure broadband connectivity and backhaul has become paramount to operational success. To exceed this ever-increasing network demand, Cambium Networks introduces the PTP 850E Millimeter Wave Radio. An ultra-high-capacity, low latency and all-outdoor Ethernet backhaul radio – operating in the E-band (71-86 GHz) – that is perfect for those working within busy on-the-move environments. It supports 250, 500, 1000, and 2000 MHz channels with BPSK to 512 QAM and delivers up to 10 Gbps capacity in 1+0 configuration. The PTP 850E can also be used in multiband configuration with PTP 820C, PTP 820S, or third-party microwave radios to provide robust links of up to 10 Gbps.
The PTP 850E is a good choice for applications that require high capacity and low latency, such as:
- Backhaul for wireless networks
- Enterprise data center connectivity
- Industrial automation
- Smart city applications
The range of the PTP 850E depends on a number of factors, including the frequency band, the transmit power, and the environment. In general, the PTP 850E can achieve ranges of up to 10 km in line-of-sight conditions.
Benefits of using the Cambium Networks PTP 850E Millimeter Wave Radio:
- High capacity: The PTP 850E can deliver up to 10 Gbps of capacity, which is ideal for demanding applications.
- Low latency: The PTP 850E has a latency of less than 1 ms, which is important for applications that require real-time data transmission.
- Robust performance: The PTP 850E is designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions, making it a good choice for outdoor deployments.
- Easy to deploy: The PTP 850E is easy to deploy and manage, making it a good choice for businesses of all sizes.
Overall, the Cambium Networks PTP 850E Millimeter Wave Radio is a powerful and versatile radio that can be used for a variety of applications. It is a good choice for businesses that require high capacity, low latency, and robust performance.

Product Features
Flexible
The PTP 850E has been crafted with flexibility at the forefront. The point-to-point solution also employs Adaptive Coding Modulation and Bandwidth (ACBM) technology. This dynamically adjusts the coding and modulation schemes used for each network data transmission allowing for an optimized transmission based on the quality of the connection. For instance, businesses that frequently experience deterioration in signal quality will still see a high transmission rate due to adaptive reductions and subsequent increases in data rate to accommodate network signal change. This ACBM feature can be activated in both a fixed and adaptive mode.
Compatible
The point-to-point 850E also holds multi-band compatibility with other Cambium devices of different frequencies, such as the PTP 820S and PTP 820C. Such a feature has the benefit of increased data capacity, increased reliability in the cases of frequency band interference/ degradation, optimized signal quality and allows for relocation of frequency bands depending on the current spectrum availability.
Mitigates Packet Delay Variation
One of the key issues that can be faced when trying to access data off of the network is Packet Delay Variation. This essentially determines the amount of time it takes for information packets to travel across a network, with a greater PDV having a large effect on higher bandwidth activities such as conference calls. The point-to-point 850E is inbuilt with transparent and body clock capabilities that calculate the time delay it takes for information to get from one device to another to minimize the variation between devices.
